Historic Vessel Restoration
Help the museum restore its fleet! It only takes a small donation to make a difference. The museum has two historic vessels representative of wooden boat-building in Huskisson in the 20th century, CREST and KINGFISHER. They are being restored by an active group of volunteers but we urgently need money for materials and equipment. CREST was built in 1911 by the Dent family and Kingfisher, nearly 40 years later, on the banks of Currambene Creek not far from the museum. These vessels are included on the Australian Register of Historic Vessels managed by the Australian National Maritime Museum. All donations received help to buy much needed materials for the restoration. Contributions are always welcome every bit helps!
Maintaining our Collection
Over the past 8 years the museum has been developing our Collection Management Centre. Our facility is one of the best in a regional museum due to the dedication and commitment of our Volunteers. However there is still more to do. A new compactus unit for more efficient management of the collection is our goal. The fund-raising target is $20,000 for a museum standard storage unit of this kind.
