JERVIS BAY, Wednesday. – After being marooned all night on rocks at the foot of a 200ft. cliff at Jervis Bay, a man and his wife were hauled up by rope today.
nIllawarra Daily Mercury, Thursday 29th March 1951.
During the rescue attempt the Lighthouse attendant, Mr Joe Farr 33, was nearly killed when a large piece of cliff broke away as Mrs Giffney was being raised in the rope bosun’s chair. He just managed to avoid the falling rocks, otherwise he would have been killed.
